Music is a form of escapism for me. It’s where I find peace, clarity, and the freedom to express myself without limits. It’s more than a passion. It’s my friend and my way of making sense of the world. As we say in Nigeria, “na my gee, e dey my gene.” Music has always been a part of who I am, and creating it gives me purpose while allowing me to connect with people through shared emotions and experiences. My hope is that every listener finds a piece of themselves in my music, whether it’s comfort, joy, confidence, or simply the feeling of knowing they’re not alone.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began singing in the choir at the age of eight, where I discovered my love for performing and developed my voice. As I grew older, people often encouraged me to participate in singing competitions because they believed in my talent.
I went on to study French and International Studies at university. Although I didn’t actively pursue music during those years, I never stopped singing. In 2019, while on my year-abroad programme in Togo, I represented my department in a French-language Soirée competition, performing Indila’s “Love Story.” That experience reminded me how deeply connected I was to music and the joy of performing.
After completing my NYSC, I made the decision to pursue music professionally. Receiving a follow from Don Jazzy early in my journey gave me the confidence that I was on the right path and inspired me to keep going.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been building my music career independently with limited resources. Like many independent artists, I’ve had to balance financial realities with chasing a dream that doesn’t come with guarantees. From funding recordings and visuals to promoting my music, the journey has required patience, sacrifice, and consistency. There have been moments of uncertainty, but every challenge has strengthened my determination. I believe growth takes time, and I continue to embrace the mindset that guides both my life and career.
My biggest dream is to build a legacy through my music, inspire others to keep believing in their dreams despite the odds, and create music that resonates across cultures and generations. I want to perform on some of the world’s biggest stages, proudly represent Nigeria on the global scene, and leave behind a body of work that continues to inspire long after I’m gone. I live by the French saying, “Petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid” meaning little by little, the bird builds its nest. It reminds me that every song, every performance, and every opportunity is another step toward the legacy I’m building.
